CURRENT MEMBERS

The USB members are leaders in AMI and the integration of AMI with the Smart Grid. They include:

AEP- AEP ranks among the nation's largest generators of electricity, owning nearly 38,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the U.S. AEP also owns the nation's largest electricity transmission system, a nearly 39,000-mile network that includes more 765 kilovolt extra-high voltage transmission lines than all other U.S. transmission systems combined. AEP's transmission system directly or indirectly serves about 10 percent of the electricity demand in the Eastern Interconnection, the interconnected transmission system that covers 38 eastern and central U.S. states and eastern Canada, and approximately 11 percent of the electricity demand in ERCOT.

Dominion - Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy, with a portfolio of approximately 26,500 megawatts of generation, 1.1 trillion cubic feet equivalent of proved natural gas and oil reserves, 14,000 miles of natural gas transmission, gathering and storage pipeline and 6,000 miles of electric transmission lines. Dominion operates the nation’s largest natural gas storage facility with 975 billion cubic feet of storage capacity and serves retail energy customers in 11 states.

Duke Energy- Duke Energy is one of the largest electric power companies in the United States. We supply and deliver energy to approximately 4 million U.S. customers. We have approximately 35,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity in the Midwest and the Carolinas, and natural gas distribution services in Ohio and Kentucky. In addition, we have more than 4,000 megawatts of electric generation in Latin America. We are also a joint-venture partner in a U.S. real estate company.

Exelon- Exelon Corporation is one of the nation’s largest electric utilities with nearly $19 billion in annual revenues. We distribute electricity to approximately 5.4 million customers in Illinois (ComEd) and Pennsylvania (PECO), and gas to 480,000 customers in the Philadelphia area (PECO). In addition, for energy delivery Exelon’s operations include energy generation and power marketing.
Exelon has one of the industry’s largest portfolios of electricity generation capacity, with a nationwide reach and strong positions in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. Exelon operates the largest and most efficient nuclear fleet in the United States and the third largest commercial nuclear fleet in the world.

Hydro One - Launched in May 2000, Hydro One is a holding company with four operating subsidiaries. It emerged from the restructuring of Ontario Hydro as the owner and operator of the wires operations formerly provided by the provincially owned utility. The company employs approximately 4,000 full-time staff across the province. It owns and operates Ontario’s 28,600 km high-voltage transmission system. The system transports electricity to 67 large industrial customers, 55 local distribution companies, and its own low-voltage distribution business. It operates 122,800 km of low-voltage distribution facilities serving about 1.3 million customers, 42 local distribution companies, and 41 large industrial customers.

Pepco Holdings Inc - PHI is an energy holding company engaged in regulated utility operations and sale of competitive energy products and services to residential and commercial customers. PHI delivers electricity and natural gas to more than 1.9 million customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia, making it one of the largest electricity delivery companies in the mid-Atlantic region.
